We have some pretty simple philosophies:

1. You own your own content and can download it and take it with you if you decide to leave. This includes updates, weblog entries, photos, artwork, music and so on.
   It's a simple philosophy. You rent use of our site for your content / networking in return for us showing you a few non-annoying ads. That's pretty straight forward.


2. We don't sell your information to anyone, ever. Our ads target generalized groups of people. For example all females aged 18 to 24 living in a certain city might see a certain ad on their private page. We do so because we need to make money to keep the site going. But we don't ever sell your specific personal information to anyone. So fear not, we're the good guys.
   
   The way we feel is, we wouldn't want anyone else doing it to us, so we aren't going to do it to you. You can be a profitable business by doing the right thing and not screwing people over. In fact, we believe we can be even more successful by being honest with our members.


3. Your privacy is a huge concern for us. We want you to feel comfortable saying what you want and doing what you want. As a result we've build SocialMore from scratch with privacy as our top concern. We know there are some things you just want to show your family or just your friends or just your co-workers. At the same time, we know there are some things you want to tell the whole world. So we've made it really easy to do all those things in one place without having to worry.

So you're probably thinking, "That's great Mike, but what is it?"

SocialMore is a social network. It's a place to keep in touch with people you already know and people you might want to meet. We especially make it easy for meeting new people who have similar interests and for keeping all the different groups of people in your life separate from each other, if you wish.

You have some options. You can write quick little updates telling people what you're up to. You can write extended weblog entries about your thoughts or feelings on a subject or even what you did that day in detail. You can share your photos with friends and family and share your artwork (if you have any) with the whole network. Same is true with audio, be it a spoken version of a blog entry or song you wrote. Once again you get to choose who you share it with.

We have lots of great ideas and future goals for SocialMore. None of them are corrupt or devious. But there are some very cool features we're working on and I wish I could tell you, but I can't until they're done. But I'll tell you this. These aren't your typical run of the mill features. In fact a lot of them would be really great websites all by themselves. But they're going to be even better built into SocialMore.

Background

SocialMore.com and our company SocialMore Media Inc was built by myself and my partner Dante. We're natives to the metro Detroit(MI) area. We both have a professional and personal background in photography, video, web design and web media.

I came to Dante with a vision and an early build of a better social network. He took his skills and breathed life into it. Together we share a lot in common with both our professional background, personal hobbies and philosophies about how a social network should work.

We plan to move full steam ahead and take on big brother with this network. We have something better than they do and we hope you agree.

So please, sign up when you can and get your friends and family to join you. It's time for a better alternative than what you may have been using.
